High Energy Probes

چکیده
We review some results on energetic particles production in heavy ion collisions below roughly 100 MeV/A both theoretically and experimentally. We discuss the possibility to gather information about the nuclear Equation Of State (EOS) and viscosity from data. Results on subthreshold pion, energetic photons and nucleons are discussed and contrasted to microscopic models. Important information about the first stages of the reaction are obtained by such probes. At present, we can conclude that we have at least a qualitative understanding of the processes involved when such particles are produced. However, a quantitative understanding of the data and the possibility of understanding deeply the formation mechanism, i.e. incoherent, cooperative or statistical, plus the derivation of important properties of the nuclear EOS are still missing. This calls for new data using more modern detector systems and comparison to more refined microscopic models.

Hard Probes in High-energy Heavy-ion Collisions
Hard QCD processes in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions become increasingly relevant and they can be used as probes of the dense matter formed during the violent scatterings. We will discuss how one can use these hard probes to study the properties of the dense matter and the associated phenomenologies. In particular, we study the effect of jet quenching due to medium-induced energy loss o...
متن کاملProbing the high density behavior of the nuclear symmetry energy with high energy heavy-ion collisions.
High energy heavy-ion collisions are proposed as a novel means to constrain stringently the high density (HD) behavior of nuclear symmetry energy. Within an isospin-dependent hadronic transport model, it is shown for the first time that the isospin asymmetry of the HD nuclear matter formed in high energy heavy-ion collisions is uniquely determined by the HD behavior of the nuclear symmetry ener...
متن کاملProbing Strongly Interacting Electroweak Symmetry Breaking Mechanism at High Energy Colliders
We sketch some of our recent studies on probing strongly interacting electroweak symmetry breaking mechanism at high energy colliders such as the CERN LHC and the future ee linear collider. The study includes both model-dependent and modelindependent probes.

Central collisions induced by high energy radioactive beams can be used as a novel means to obtain crucial information about the high density (HD) behaviour of nuclear symmetry energy. This information is critical for understanding several key issues in astrophysics. Within an isospin-dependent hadronic transport model using phenomenological equations of state (EOS) for dense neutron-rich matte...
متن کاملLow Energy Probes of Physics Beyond the Standard Model
Low-energy tests of fundamental symmetries and studies of neutrino properties provide a powerful window on physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM). In this article, we provide a basic theoretical framework for a subsequent set of articles that review the progress and opportunities in various aspects of the low-energy program. We illustrate the physics reach of different low-energy probes in ter...
متن کاملRole of ultrasound probes in transmission of hospital infections
Background: The ultrasonography probes are cleaned by absorbent soft, dry cloth. This question arose whether linear and convex ultrasound probes coupling with gel could perform as a means for nosocomial infections transmission, and which method is economical and more efficient for cleaning the probes. This study was conducted to answer these questions. Methods: One hundred – ninety two patients...
